Our Big Suprise

Patience has never been one of my strong traits, so needless to say, at my 13 week ultrasound, I strongly "pushed" the Dr. to find out the sex of our baby. To our excitement, we found out we would be having a boy. The Dr. said since it was still very early, he was only 85% positive. Pretty good odds we thought. In the weeks to follow, we started to collect little boy apparel & Derek began to plan his sports career. At the 16 week ultrasound, the baby was moving around too much to get a clear shot of the "boy parts." We were still pretty confident about the first ultrasound, so the collection of boy items continued. Fast forward 5 weeks. My dad and Derek joined me for the "big" 21 week ultrasound with the technician. We let her know we already knew the sex of the baby...a boy. After a few minutes of probing around, she confidently stated: "well, I'm not sure who told you that, but I am 100% sure you are having a little girl." The boys faces were priceless, and tears instantly ran down my cheeks. Apparently we were seeing the umbilical cord at the 13 week ultrasound, despite it's convincing nature. Whether it was going to be a boy or girl, we are so thankful I've been feeling well, and the baby is healthy. We are SO excited that a little girl will be joining our home in four short months. Baby girl Jolley is anticipated to arrive June 23rd.
